GOVERNOR RENDELL CALLS ON LEGISLATURE TO RETURN; DISCUSSES H1N1
Governor Ed Rendell held a teleconference Friday to call on the legislature to return to session Monday, November 9, and immediately pass table games and gaming reform. He also provided an update on the status of H1N1 in Pennsylvania. First discussing table games and gaming reform, the governor stated he is extremely disappointed with the pace of progress in finalizing action on the remaining legislation. He has written legislative leaders and called on them to return and stated this is an “intolerable situation.†Noting that the House plans to return on November 9, but the Senate will not be returning until November 16, Governor Rendell said this schedule suggests a “particularly cavalier attitude†and urged “round the clock†negotiations to ensure that the bill can be on his desk for signing by the close of session on November 9. He stated it is incumbent on legislative leaders to set aside their differences and work with a sense of urgency. Check the PLS Capitol Toolbox to read the full story.
