UPDATE: The House adjourned for the day Thursday without taking up the legislation.
Majority Leader Todd Eachus (D-Luzerne) told reporters Thursday afternoon he will advise Democratic caucus members not to vote on table games legislation until Jan. 5 of next year.
The Senate made “significant” changes to the legislation last night, Rep. Eachus said. Lawmakers will need to review and analyze the alterations before voting on the bill, he said.
The House approved their version of the bill Tuesday night, but senators on Wednesday amended it to reduce the number of available category three licenses from three to two. Changes were also made to language that directed the local share of the tax revenue.
Lawmakers were concerned about stalled table games legislation because the bill had been connected to funding for non-preferred universities, such as Penn State. But when asked about them, Rep. Eachus said the Governor Ed Rendell should go ahead and fund them using budgetary reserves.
